Hi, I am Özgür

Based in Berlin and originally from Istanbul, I have lived in Germany for more than a decade. I hold an MSc in Computational Mechanics and have over 15 years of experience in numerical simulation, biomechanical modeling, and virtual product development. I am currently working as a senior engineer while getting ready for my PhD defense. My work spans medical device development, impact biomechanics, occupant safety, and machine-learning applications. What excites me most is understanding how the human body responds to complex mechanical loading and turning these insights into practical engineering solutions that improve people’s lives.

I enjoy working at the intersection of scientific research, engineering, and emerging technologies—from advanced computational modeling to data-driven methods. Beyond my professional life, I am the proud father of a six-year-old daughter. I love spending time in nature as much as I enjoy city life and, when the stars align, you might also find me on an alpine adventure.

Current activities

Physics Engine for Hard-Tissue Biomechanics

My current work focuses on developing foundational models based on graph neural networks to predict bone deformation, damage, and fracture under complex loading conditions. Trained on high-fidelity simulations, these models learn the relationships between anatomy, material properties, applied loads, and resulting biomechanical responses in bone tissue.

The goal is to combine the reliability of finite element analysis with the speed of data-driven inference. Potential applications include real-time, patient-specific biomechanical evaluation and fracture-risk assessment, implant design optimization, surgical planning, and physics-based guidance for robotic systems.
